I realllly was wanting to put together my dragoncon line-up for instagram the other day but I felt like it might jinx it. So instead here I am writing an extra blog post for the week because I’m having an irritating day and needed a nice distraction. Even though I kinda already went over this in a post a couple of weeks ago. It’s my blog I do what I want.
I did go in and check our hotel reservation yesterday, which I’d been anxious to do, but it’s all there and OK. Although they raised the price of the room – it was totally paid off last March but now apparently we owe another $80, bleh. Taxes or something.
So anyway here are the costumes I intend to bring to Dragoncon. First up are the “already made and going for sures”…
1. Ceremonial Leia
Need to get new shoes but otherwise she’s ready to go. Excited to wear this dcon — I never took either of my previous versions.
2. Blue Glitter Leia
She’s ready to go. Doesn’t need anything done. I had planned to take her last year. If there’s a Leia group shoot this year, I’ll probably wear her to that.
3. Raddus Bridge Leia
Even though this costume feels OLD I haven’t gotten to wear it anywhere – again it was supposed to be new for Dragoncon 2020. So it’ll be coming along.
4. Eliza
Still need to finish the shoes (did a first coat on them and then when we decided to not do the photoshoot this weekend I kinda forgot about them) and get a wig. Otherwise she’s ready to go. Excited to finally get to wear this.
5. Arwen
Only reason i dont have pics of me in this is because my necklace broke. Need to get Chase to fix it. Also need to look at the sleeves like I talked about a couple of weeks ago.
Next is the “making now and hopefully nothing happens and makes me cancel the project otherwise it’s going”
6. Padme Liberty Dies (And Bail)
Making good progress. With a 3 day weekend I’m really hoping to knock a lot out this weekend. I’d love to be finished with my surcoat and basic underskirt, and have a start on velvet piece and the appliques. And start cutting bail’s suit at least.
7. Scarlet Witch
I don’t have much done on this except planning but things are happening this weekend.
Next is the “If I have time to make this I will take it” segment
8. Star Trek TOS skant
Not this one in particular, just a generic one. I revamped that pattern for Jean last year but never got to use it, and I just saw it in my “projects in progress” folder and it made me realllly want to do it. I mean I figured out the pattern last year and wrote up new (easier) instructions for it, so I don’t think it would be terribly hard. May have to resize, and buy a new combadge, but… it would be fun. It really just depends on time/money.
9. Silly Secret Costume
This was something I wanted to do ages ago and never got around to. And now I have a good reason to do it. i found fabric. It would be a quick build + styling a wig. And something cool and easy to wear at night. Again it just depends on money/time. If I don’t do it for dcon, I’m going to do it later this year.
And finally the “these are done but I haven’t decided if I want to take them or not” segment…

10. Mothman
this was just a silly costume I made for my area51 bday party 2 years ago. I intended to bring it last year as a late night costume. It may still come along. Probably depends on what I get done this summer – if I don’t get to either of those “maybes” this will probably come.
11. Belle Library
It was supposed to go last year but i just don’t know. I don’t feel pretty in it. Maybe if I restyle the wig AGAIN but yeah I dunno, have to wait to see how I feel closer to time.
12. Padme nightgown
I mean I don’t know that I actually want to wear this around people because it’s got so many problems due to the rebuild issues. And I don’t love how I look in it. but it’s an easy one to wear and would be nice and cool. So… maybe?
13. Crusher
I took the suit up since I wore it at Dcon 2019 – in prep for wearing to cons in 2020 which didn’t happen. So it’d be nice to get some wear out of it. But she’s near the end of the list because the shoes aren’t super comfy and it’s another wig that will have to travel on a wighead. (And there’s already going to be 2 or 3)
14. Kate
Now that I’ve shortened the wig and got some shoes that will actually stay on my feet, I’d love to bring this back. But another wig that has to go on a wighead… and the “new shoes” are my unicorn and the wasp Donna shoes which are AWFUL.
15. Trillian
It’s an 8 year old costume now and I’ve worn trillian at dcon A LOT because it’s comfy (it was best in 2017 when I was a brunette and didn’t have to wear a wig…) but this year is Hitchhiker’s 42nd birthday so I’m keeping it in the list as a backup.
As for everything else new I’ve made this past year… not really thinking of taking any of my disney stuff except MAYBE Dale if Chase wants to take Chip. Not taking Jupiter – I typically don’t take anime stuff to dcon anymore. I also updated Marasiah fel and Sleeping Beauty last year but not really feeling taking those anywhere.
You guys know I try to keep it to 12 costumes or under so at the moment, I’m looking at taking:
1. Scarlet Witch
2. Padme Liberty Dies
3. Ceremonial Leia
4. Blue Glitter Leia
5. Raddus Leia
6. Eliza
7. Arwen
8. Mothman
And then the possibilities of the 2 “maybe” builds and a couple off the “already made maybe” list. that’s a lot of hot/uncomfortable/long costumes on that list so I definitely need either those 2 maybes or 2 comfy ones off the other list.
So that’s my dragoncon thoughts.
